We're seeking a new team member to join our newly formed Data Management Team as a Data Governance Manager. We're in search of an experienced individual who can assist the Director of the Data Management Team with expertise and insight, while also serving as a mentor and collaborator for fellow team members and business units, aiding them in their journey toward becoming a data-centric organization. The responsibilities of the Data Governance Manager include developing and advocating for data management policies, as well as aiding team members such as the Data Quality Officer, Data Stewards/Analysts, and Data Engineers.

The main tasks in this position include:

  • Establish and enforce Data Governance Policies, Standards, and Best Practices
  • Leading and coordinating data governance activities (e.g. Regulatory Compliance, Data Management Roles, Data Assets, and Data Ethics).
  • Organizing and preparing agendas for the Executive Steering Committee overseeing data management (Data Governance Board).
  • Collaborate with IT, Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders to establish a data strategy.
  • Monitor and report on the performance and compliance of data governance policies and metrics (and identify and resolve any issues) including alignment with the data strategy.
  • Work closely with PMO and IT to ensure that the data related changes are in line with the data governance framework (and vice-versa).
  • Supporting colleagues from the data management team (e.g. Data Quality Officer, Head of Data Management, Data Stewards/Analysts/Engineers).
  • Promoting a data-driven culture

Personality requirements and skills

  • Experience in data management roles such as data analyst, data architect or data stewardship.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, IFRS17, BCBS239, Solvency II, Cybersecurity, Healthcare Insurance Act.
  • Experience leading and managing teams including planning, coordination and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Understanding of data management tools, database technologies, data modeling and data integration
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making skills, with willingness to continuous learn and adapt to new technologies, regulations, and best practices.
